Kelly chose to do a PowerPoint, but she put her genres into a “moving” box. She did this because Emily (from Angela Johnson’s Toning the Sweep) and her mother went to California to help Emily’s grandmother, Ola, move to Ohio to live with them because she has terminal cancer.
The genres in the box are Diane’s horoscope; Ola’s Will, complete with photos of the items she leaves; an interview (In the book, Emily videotapes Ola’s friends to chronicle her life and relationships); a letter from Ola to her best friend, Martha Jackson; and two poems from Emily’s point of view.
