Today we are talking about Jacqueline Woodson’s Locomotion and Sharon Creech’s Love That Dog in READ 618. We’re doing online dialogue journals.
I put these books together for several reasons:
1. they are free verse novels;
2. they contain reluctant male writers; and
3. they offer interesting depictions of 2 teachers who try to encourage writers.
If you haven’t read these books, you’re missing out.
Both books are available on CD. Love That Dog features Walter Dean Myers reading “Love That Boy.” I squealed when I heard it the first time. OK, I’m a bookgeek, and I don't care who knows it.
