We’re reading The Joy Luck Club in May, but I’m reading it now with my class. I find myself reading certain lines repeatedly. For example, how can one read this line (written after Amy Tan writes that June gets mad because her mother refuses to buy her a radio) and not pause?June’s mom says, “Why do you think you are missing something you never had?” p. 25
