I love seeing young people flourish. When we were at the awards assembly the other day, a high school sophomore at the school Z will be attending next year came up to me and told me glowing things about her experience in high school. The young lady and I had never talked before, but she went out of her way to assure me that Z would be in good hands next year. She offered to give us advice and insight on subjects, study opportunities, and, of course, teachers. She was bright, articulate, and personable. With role models like her, maybe Z will be all right in high school.
I should have asked her about reading lists.
OK, I’ll worry about high school in August.
