Out-of-school literacy, but school seeps in

If you look at word choice in Z’s writing, it looks like he has been influenced by readings in English class. In the excerpt posted yesterday, I stopped at “thy brain” and wondered about this. As I read further, I noticed “thy blackest woe,” “child truant,” “heart throes,” and “Might fain to win that way.”




You know, this is out-of-school literacy, but I believe school seeps in.
